Nicole Kidman and Her Daughter Wore 120 Centimeters of Hair Extensions to the Met Gala

If you haven’t caught up with the beauty-and-fashion spectacle of the 2026 Met Gala yet, consider this your virtual invite. This year’s guest list delivered one stunning red carpet moment after another, making it almost impossible to choose a favorite look. As a beauty editor, I couldn’t help but notice the gorgeous hair and makeup moments too, from Zoë Kravitz and Doja Cat to Nicole Kidman. Honestly, I want to try every single one.

Luckily, I’ve just got some fresh insider details on Kidman’s dramatic hair moment. Her longtime hairstylist, Adir Abergel, revealed that Kidman and her daughter Sunday Rose each wore 60 centimeters of extensions on the carpet—making it 120 centimeters of extra length in total. Yes, that is seriously a lot of hair. Keep reading to see their ultra-long styles from every angle, plus the exact steps and products you’ll need to recreate each look.

For Nicole and Sunday’s first Met Gala appearance together, Abergel wanted their hairstyles to feel connected in a soft and meaningful way. He explained that hair acted as a subtle link between their looks, giving both of them a shared sense of modern elegance. While both styles were sleek with center parts, each had its own detail. Nicole’s look included delicate fringe grazing her lashes, while Sunday’s extra-long hair had a gentle, natural bend.

Abergel began by brushing Nicole’s towel-dried hair with his favorite Denman D38 Detangling Brush. He then prepared her hair with Virtue’s Damage Reverse Serum and a few pumps of Healing Oil. To shape the bangs perfectly and add smooth shine, he blow-dried her hair using a Denman paddle brush with the Shark Beauty FlexStyle Air Styling & Drying System.
Next, Abergel added BHBD’s 60-centimeter extensions in the shade 9NG/11N, which blended perfectly with Nicole’s natural color and texture. To complete the style, he warmed a few drops of Virtue’s Healing Oil in his hands, then gently smoothed it through her long golden hair to give it extra softness, shine, and a glossy finish.

Sunday’s look used a similar styling routine, but Abergel worked Virtue’s 6-in-1 Styler through her hair and applied a little Volumizing Primer at the roots before blow-drying. He said this helped create a strong, healthy base that could hold throughout the night. Using the same brush and Shark blow-dryer, he gave her hair a sleek, straight finish before adding BHBD extensions in shades 5NG/6NG.

Instead of keeping her hair completely straight, Abergel wrapped small sections around his fingers and used the Shark Beauty FlexStyle to create soft, uneven bends throughout. He finished with a little Healing Oil to lock in shine, giving Sunday a gorgeous Rapunzel-inspired look for her first Met Gala. The final style was glossy, flowing, and full of movement—almost like a piece of art.
